Meet Your Therapists

I am Joanna Pechal, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to the belief that genuine healing starts when you feel truly heard and understood. At my practice, I provide a compassionate and secure refuge for individuals working through PTSD, domestic violence, anxiety and interpersonal struggles. My objective is to foster an environment where recovery and personal evolution are not just goals, but realities. In our sessions, you will find a safe space to explore your emotions without fear of judgement. I work closely with my clients to shift negative perspectives, allowing for a deeper understanding behind their behaviors. By integrating diverse modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the Gottman Method, Person-Centered Therapy and mindfulness, we will focus your treatment to align with your unique personal journey.
As your therapeutic partner, I offer empathy and steady support, while also maintaining the integrity to challenge you and encourage growth when the moment is right. Healing is a continuous process that doesn’t require a crisis. I welcome sessions during periods of stability just as much as during times of struggle, providing a dedicated space for quiet reflection and maintenance of well-being.
With over two decades of professional experience, I have supported adolescents, adults, couples and families through a wide spectrum of complex emotional challenges. My extensive background includes specialized work in grief, divorce, trauma and depression. I deeply respect the bravery it takes to pursue professional support and I am committed to walking beside you as you navigate life’s complexities. Your narrative is significant, and I am here to help you draft the next chapter whenever you are ready to begin.

I’m Jeremiah Kroup, a Licensed Clinical Social worker with nearly two decades of experience providing therapy to veterans through the Department of Veteran Affairs. My background includes supporting veterans living with service related injuries, trauma and severe mental health conditions. I also have extensive experience helping men navigate mental health challenges, sexual concerns and difficulties with intimacy—subjects that can be difficult to discuss, but deserve compassionate, open conversation.
I use evidence based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure therapy, and mindfulness, to help clients understand their experiences, change unhelpful patterns and develop practical tools for everyday life. I tailor my approach to each person’s needs and goals, recognizing that meaningful progress looks different for everyone.
My style is straightforward, honest and compassionate. I will respectfully challenge you when I notice patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and I won’t shy away from difficult conversations. I believe therapy works best when you feel supported enough to be honest and challenged enough to grow. My goal is to help you face what’s difficult, build confidence, and move toward a more fulfilling life.
I am the Clinical Director at Pechal Counseling, providing supervision and support to all clinical staff. I currently only accept self-pay clients virtually.

Meet Oreo, our four legged office companion at Pechal Counseling! Oreo brings a little extra warmth to our welcoming space—a reminder that connection doesn’t always require words. We understand that everyone has different comfort levels with dogs, and your comfort always comes first. Whether you enjoy a furry visitor or prefer your session without one, our goal is to help you feel safe, comfortable and supported.
